The Smart-Hoses meets the requirements of the DOT standards and additions to NFPA for a passive shutdown system. The patented system features an internal cable connected to normally unseated "valve plungers or wedges" located on each end of the cable. In the event of coupling-to-hose separation, stretching to the point of an unsafe condition or hose severance, the valve "wedges: are released and instantly seat, stopping the flow in both directions.
